METAPHORA.

METAPHORA is a series born from the invisible, from a fragile in-between where dreams meet reality. Between nightmare and dream, it reveals fragments of unreal beings, of uncertain emotions, which seem to mirror our deepest sensations.
Conceived in 2023 by Ludovic Lyne, METAPHORA is rooted in an intimate memory: that of recurring characters, emerging from his childhood dreams. Mysterious figures, bearers of messages, hopes, anxieties and secrets, they accompany him on his journey, like initiatory presences encouraging him to cross invisible thresholds, doors with trembling handles and icy locks.
In a singular visual language, METAPHORA magnifies extreme close-up, transforming detail into monumental territory. Gazes become unfathomable crevices, and each face, each fragment, becomes an inner landscape, a reflection of a sensitive and disturbing humanity.
Here, the visual narrative does not describe: it suggests, insinuates, and reveals. The characters appear as entities suspended between flesh and chimera, between reality and illusion.
Ludovic Lyne intended this series to be like a constantly shifting metaphor. In this way, everyone can find an echo of their own story. This is what gives these works a rare power: they are both deeply intimate and universal, capable of touching everyone in their most secret parts.
Much more than a photographic series, METAPHORA is a sensory exploration, a dive into the deep imagination. Each image stands like a ritual, an icon of the unconscious, where mystery combines with silence.
At the end of 2025, this series was awarded the Médailles de France de la Photographie.
